After the words for poetry stopped coming to him, Gary Bell needed a new creative outlet. He was encouraged to paint. He had tried years before, but since he couldn’t do landscapes or portraits, he convinced himself he wasn’t an artist. However, in 2014 he was encouraged to try painting again by simply playing with paint and not viewing it as work. This time he painted without criticism, judgment, or expectations of perfectionism. The result is his bold and heavily textured artplay.
He currently lives and paints in San Diego, California.
